Why Your Tire Pressure Monitoring Light is Flashing

Why Your Tire Pressure Monitoring Light is Flashing

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is an essential safety system for your car. The tire pressure warning light is designed to warn you when your tire pressure is 25% less than it should be in your tires.

The warning light doesn't just come on when you have a tire pressure problem, sometimes the sensor is faulty too.

How do you tell?

  • -- If the TPMS warning light comes on and stays on solid after you start the vehicle, you've got one or more tires that are low on air pressure -- The most common tire repair is a nail or screw. but leaking tires come in all ways, nails, screws, rims, and valve stems.
  • If the TPMS light comes on and flashes for about a minute after you start the car, then stays on solid - You've probably got a bad TPMS sensor and you may have low air pressure too (you'll never know because the system isn't working)

Hope this helps you next time you see the TPMS warning light on your dash.

Remember. at Kenwood Tire we're here to get you back on the road with a minimum of fuss -- It's always best to make an appointment.
